New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are a basketball team based in New York City. Founded in 1946, they are part of the NBA National Basketball Association. The Knicks' play their home games at Madison Square Garden. They have a rich history and are one of the most iconic and popular teams in the NBA. The peak of the franchise came in the 1990s, with intense matchups against Michael Jordan's Bulls and the Miami Heat.

The Knicks' identity was initially inspired by the Empire State Building, aiming to convey a sense of height reminiscent of skyscrapers. My concept preserves the original visual but removes the 3D effect, which I felt was no longer necessary. The logo also features slight color modifications; the orange is now slightly more "electric," while the blue is deeper to enhance contrast.

With this concept, the goal was to simply revisit this popular brand, maintaining a sense of balance to avoid making significant changes.

Current vs Concept

Primary logo

Here is the presentation of the new visual, which is generally close to the existing one. The contrast of colors allows for a harmonious structure. The white script facilitates readability and recenters the focus. The logo, positioned higher, maintains the intention to echo the building mentioned earlier. The overall design is more modern, while still preserving a connection to the franchise's rich history.

Secondary logo

This second visual is a fusion of the two versions that appeared in 1995‑1996, incorporating the New York subway token and the logo from the 2011‑2012 season. The result is an image with a retro style that adds a certain depth to the visual identity.

«Breaking new ground by offering a version that combines fashion, culture, and the team's history. This innovative approach helps create a strong connection between the franchise's heritage and current trends.»

Uniforms

Home

The second uniform in the franchise's history to feature the "Knicks'" script, after the one from 1979‑1982, incorporates the team's name. My intention was to align with other teams by modifying the home uniform.

Away

The blue away uniform is a tradition for the "Knicks'". The design is simple and modern, with a touch of classic style in the collar colors, which reflect the New York City flag and the team's logo.

Alternate

The addition of the black jersey with Knicks' color accents is a nod to the 1990s‚ with a twist : black is now the dominant color.

City edition

This jersey is a tribute to the New York artist I greatly admire, Roy Lichtenstein. This concept was created in 2019 . The Brooklyn Nets have recently done something similar with Jean‑Michel Basquiat . The design on the shorts and jersey is unique to this side of the collection.
