Calgary Hitmen
The Calgary Hitmen are a junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL), based in Calgary, Alberta. Founded in 1995, the team is named after wrestling legend Bret "Hitman" Hart, who helped in its creation. Known for their physical and competitive style of play, the Hitmen focus on developing young talent, often destined for the National Hockey League (NHL).
They have won several division and conference titles, as well as the WHL championship in 1999, which earned them a spot in the prestigious Memorial Cup. The Hitmen are also recognized for their community involvement, notably through charitable events like the famous 'Teddy Bear Toss.' With their success on the ice and their connection to the local culture, they have become a cornerstone of Canadian junior hockey.

Current vs Concept
Primary logo with wordmark
Primary logo
Secondary logo
The mask is shown here in a front view, symbolizing strength and determination. In the background, the maple leaf, formed by an impact, incorporates one of the iconic elements of the primary logo, reinforcing the team's Canadian identity. This element creates a very electric feel, with sharp lines.
Third logo
At the center of the design, the letter 'C' representing the initial of the city of Calgary, takes a central position. Right in the middle of this letter, a puck is positioned, with a target drawn on it. This detail evokes the precision and intensity of the game, symbolizing the team's focus and determination."
Typography
With a fairly aggressive main logo, I wanted a graphic style that matches the overall design to maintain strong visual coherence. The numbers are therefore partially damaged due to heavy impacts, which adds intensity to the visual universe. This worn effect gives the impression of a fierce battle, reinforcing the idea of raw strength and resilience.
Uniforms
Home
The Hitmen play in black, with some graphic elements in fluorescent pink and white to create better overall contrast. The colors of the uniform and the logo set the tone as soon as they step onto the ice.
Away
The white uniform retains the general design of the previous one, while incorporating a few modifications to better harmonize with the lighter base color. These adjustments improve the contrast and integration of the graphic elements on the new background.
Alternate
In this uniform, the base color becomes lavender, identical to that of the player in the logo. The graphic elements are in black and pink. The secondary logo appears at the center of the uniform, while the third logo is featured on the sleeves of the jersey.
